WE ARE GETTING MARRIED! WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

Dear darling brides, some may tell you to begin with a date...

I say begin with the number of invited guests!

If you've dreamt of romantically eloping with only the love of your life -- technically, you cannot do that in North Carolina or Georgia, as the states mandate two (2) witnesses be present to sign your marriage license.

If you are local to the mid-east coast, South Carolina and Tennessee are your select states for true Elopements! I reside between the lovely Carolinas, and encounter this quite a bit. South Carolina and Tennessee do not require any witnesses, which means it can truly be just me, thee and he! So, if you desire your guest list to be zero (0), then apply for a marriage license at any county in SC or TN.

This does come with a caveat, though. You must also determine if the location of your ceremony is more important than the guest list. Why? Because the state you receive your marriage license from is the only state you may get married in.

In summary, in South Carolina, you need a marriage license, each other, and a Wedding Officiant (that's me).

In Tennessee, you need a marriage license, each other, and a Wedding Officiant.

In Georgia, you need a marriage license, each other, two people at least 18 years old, as witnesses and a Wedding Officiant.

In North Carolina, you need a marriage license, each other, two people at least 18 years old as witnesses and a Wedding Officiant (that's still me). Got it?

Awesome sauce, now on to your date selection!
